Our History
Dr. Homer S. “Buddy” Bruce graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1987.
Upon graduation, he worked for Dr. Marsha Cashwell in Phenix City while he built his veterinary hospital in Opelika. He was raised in Opelika, where his grandfather and others built the first human hospital.
He and his wife, Cherry, have two sons, Blaine (Montana) and Byron (Dana), and one grandchild, Ian. He has six dogs at home: three Boston terriers, a Boykin spaniel, a Chiweenie, and a Bullmastiff, along with too many cats. He enjoys gardening and
Auburn Sports.
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Alabama Veterinary Medical Association (Executive Board Member), East Alabama Veterinary Medical Association (Vice President) and is on the Advisory Committee for the Southern Union State Community College Veterinary Technician Program.
He is the Lee County Rabies Officer and performs Shelter work for the Lee County Animal Control.
